Glass Flameworked Designs: Perkins Center for the Arts - Collingswood
Glass Flameworked Sculptures, Pendants, Beads, and Marbles
Mondays, April 8 - 22, 2024 (3 sessions)
Join artist David Graeber at our Collingswood location for a 3-week class in flame-worked glass. Learn basic information about safety, the use of the torch and other flame working equipment, as well as an introduction to glass techniques. Students will learn how to work molten glass into beautiful glass beads using a torch. David will walk students through the process of designing and encasing beads as well as making multiples. Using all colors of glass, students will learn more about design and glass forming techniques to create their own one-of-a-kind pendants, flame-worked marbles, and flame-worked sculptures. For registered students, there will be two open studios on Thursday nights from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. These will give students more time to practice their flame-working techniques. Students will be working with an open flame so please wear a long sleeved shirt (cotton only, no synthetic fabrics), closed toe shoes, and pull long hair back.
